Eliminate bending of beams using external posttensioning
Even though funicular forms make possible the creation of highly material efficient structures, due to reasons of aesthetics, technology, function, they are not so often applied. The goal of the research is to design such external posttensioning systems, that make a curve of a given shape funicular, hence making possible the application of free-form shapes in a structurally efficient way. During the research the applicant gains knowledge and develops methods that are useful in both later studies and professional work.
