Examination of the pressure surface of masonry barrel vaults

Masonry dong vaults can only balance their burdens by means of pressure, as they can crack(s) by pulling. Analogous to the arches, where the pressure line is used to check the arch, the dong vault can be examined using a pressure surface.
The aim of the research is to:
(a) Understanding and comparing the pressure surface comparative methods in the literature.
(b) Using an effective pressure surface moth, to examine how the dimensions and thickness of the dong vault affect the stresses and load capacity of the vault, taking into account, for example, the spatial proportions used in the Romanesque style and their changes.
